Performances

The following is a selection of images from various performances that deal with autobiographical storytelling through a multiplicity of characters. The works layers hisory onto the familiar idea of the self-portrait, as I project family snapshots and slides from my childhood onto myself. As I physically move into and occupy the different personas, a new identity emerges. The mediated slides from my childhood are placed in a wholly new artistic context. Once used to show nostalgic images of family vacations and growing children, I now project them onto me as a way of discussing the complex layerings of selves and of history.

Paintings

The life-size autobiographical oil paintings dealing with the bodies vulnerability and its vast complexity. The small shaped portraits are of women and girls who are overwhelmed by their own hairstyles, depicting a strange and conflicted realm of the feminine.

Drawings

This selection of drawings depicts an ongoing series of highly detailed, obsessive works which focus on the rhythm and comfort of making patterns into strange hairstyles. They become extremely feminine as well as monstrous. The works are cutouts made entirely of paper and graphite, and often include three-dimensional elements.
