"History is written by the victors, or the winners, I'm not sure."
- attributed to Winston Churchill, but of unknown origin
For this show, we decided to focus on chronicling the The War Show. In keeping with our spirit of antagonistic collaboration, we decided it would be not only a history of the conflict, but a conflicting history. All of the past participants were invited to submit works that would somehow tell their story in the War Show. Objects, written accounts, even a documentary were all submitted. It did not matter that much of what was written was a total fiction, the objects often had nothing to do with the previous exhibits, and the documentary was made mostly of footage shot long after the fact. It was a history, and as such was not to be trusted.
We presented this in a (typically) bombed out looking room at the punk-art institution ABC No Rio which made the exhibit seem like a makeshift history museum in an active warzone.
